Interesting Facts about Lamanai:

Crocodile images appear frequently in Lamanai’s artifacts, pottery, and as large stucco headdresses on the temples.
It is one of Belize's oldest and longest-occupied sites, settled around 1500 BC on the New River Lagoon.
David M. Pendergast of the Royal Ontario Museum excavated the site from 1974 to 1986, uncovering most of the site's major monumental architecture and Spanish colonial churches.
