Lamanai was one of the great Maya centers of northern Belize. Unlike many Maya cities that experienced major decline around the 9th and 10th centuries, Lamanai continued to be occupied for centuries afterward. Its temples, plazas, ball court, and colonial churches reveal a remarkably long and changing history.
